An old variety famous for producing many sports. Originally discovered at Rinno-ji temple near the city of Nikko. One of the most popular and best satsuki for bonsai. Known to respond well to pruning and ability to grow very tapered trunks. Because of it's small flower and leaves, it played an important role during the shift from potted flower display satsuki to bonsai. 'Kozan' is also relatively amiable to being wired and not being as brittle as some other varieties.
