Full name: Rhododendron yedoense var. poukhanense. Japanese name: Chosen tsutsuji / チョウセンヤマツツジ. Found in the mountains on the Korean peninsula, this azalea with an upright growth and relatively large lavender flowers, with 10 stamen. One of the most hardy of all evergreen azaleas, responsible for winter-hardiness and strong blotches or rich purple colours in hybrid cultivars. Known as the Korean azalea.
