‘Kinsai’

Old variety with tassel-shaped petals. Probably a selection of R.indicum. Strong and hold hardy variety with narrow leaves, with the ability to develop a trunk during field growing relatively fast. Has good autumn colour. flowers will eventually revert back to the standard azalea flower. This sport is called 'Kinka'. To keep the tassel-type flowers, branches with the normal flower should be pruned back, eliminating the reverted tissue.
