Old variety with tassel-shaped petals. Probably a selection of R.indicum. Strong and cold-hardy variety with narrow leaves. It does grow somewhat slower and tends not to develop massive trunks as easily. Has good autumn colour. flowers will eventually revert back to the standard azalea flower. This sport is called 'Kinka'. To keep the tassel-type flowers, branches with the normal flower should be pruned back, eliminating the reverted tissue.
