‘Kogetsu’ is a variety with white flowers with red variegation, often with a dramatic effect, is a good representation for the entire class of white-with-red satsuki. Has a strong tendency for red flowers with white centres (sokojiro). With variable flowers larger in size than for example 'Kozan', this variety can both be used for traditional bonsai or flower display azaleas. The plant habit is more open and sparse than some of the more ideal bonsai varieties. Traditionally, it was considered a flower display variety, but the many newer flower-oriented varieties make much more of an impression thanks to larger flowers. 'Kogetsu' has a classic elegant look, in part thanks to its rounded petals.
