‘Kobai’ is a variety that combines the round, ume-like flower shape from ‘Sanko-no-Tsuki’ with the pale variegation of ‘Yata-no-Kagami’. This variety is slow-growing, has attractive glossly, small leaves, responds well to pruning and is suitable for small bonsai. It is somewhat less cold-tolerant.
